Amazon.com Product Description The high-performance HDTVa amplified indoor HDTV antenna from Terk Technologies is designed to capture both UHF and VHF signals (channels 2 to 69) while extending the reception range for all local HDTV broadcasts. The HDTVa uses an ultra-low-noise, high-gain amplifier with Terk's exclusive Dual-Drive Amplifier technology for clear reception of both distant and close HDTV and DTV stations.
As suitable for those living in city apartments as for those in suburban homes, the compact HDTVa lets viewers experience HDTV broadcasts in full resolution. Designed for total reception versatility, the HDTVa's high-gain antenna array can be oriented either horizontally or vertically within its mounting base to achieve optimum capture of off-air broadcasts.
Set the amplifier to high-gain mode to compensate for signals that are too weak or might otherwise be bypassed for a stronger signals nearby. Simplifying your installation, the HDTVa uses Terk's Power Injector to derive power via its coaxial connecting cable. The result? One cable is all you have to connect, making it easy to install the HDTVa atop or near your television.
The antenna is engineered to receive all local HDTV channels, with an operating bandwidth covering both the UHF (channels 2 to 13) and VHF (channels 14 to 69) frequency ranges. Its highly directional log periodic UHF and precision VHF elements are designed to receive HDTV broadcasts with maximum signal strength while rejecting all or most interference. The HDTVa is as exceptional in appearance as it is in performance: its curved, tapering, polished-aluminum antenna elements are mounted in a slim base with a contoured front that visually complements the curve of the antenna elements.

GoodMarch 11, 2010 Jen(New York) My dad live in an apartment building and this works so well. I thought he'd get like 5 channels but he got over 50. He is happy that he is getting more channels now. Before he was paying for cable and they only gave him 3 or 5 channels. It looks a little odd but it works.
how to power w/ 9v batteryMarch 10, 2010 daoneth(North MD) Very good antenna.
I bought for a battery operated TV for power outages.
Easily spliced a 9 volt (smoke detector type) battery into the power cord.
Works perfectly for 1.75 hours on new battery.
Made my day. Pulled in stations 35 miles away.
Better than basic CableMarch 9, 2010 Sachin Yadav(Santa Clara, CA, USA) I ordered this product on amazon and received it on time with good packaging. The initial set up was quick and was clearly stated on the included manual. I used the [...] to direct the antenna in correct direction and got @ 60 channels right away. It took me 1/2 hr to adjust the antenna direction and its poles to receive channels 11.1 and 7. The HD channels look great and the non-HD channels look even better than the basic cable. I would definitely suggest this product to all who use basic cable because it gives excellent picture and sound without having to pay monthly cable charges.
Did not live up to other reviewers ratingsMarch 9, 2010 Nathan Chao(NJ) I bought this last month after I discontinued my cable service. I was picking up about 25 stations with my old unamplified ordinnary analog indoor tv antenna. After I hooked up the Terk, I gained 4 more stations all in channels above 13 and foreign language which I do not watch. However for the lower channels, it performed the same as my old rabbit ears. The signals on channels 2 and 4 still breaks up in bad weather and greatly annoyed me during important moments in the winter olympic viewing last month.
For all that money compared to unamplified antennas, it was a great disappointment.
Unable to pick up almost half of Los Angeles OTA stationsMarch 8, 2010 B. Stone Very disappointed. Was unable to pick up 3 Los Angeles over the air stations 5, 11 and 13.
Most disappointing was inability to pick up local FOX TV station, channel 11 for Sunday afternoon NASCAR race on newly purchased big screen. Fiddled and diddled, daddled and doodled but was unable to get the stations to scan in.
Finally gave up and am returning to Amazon for refund.
